What language do Norwegians speak?
Many languages are being used in Norway, they can speak English as early as 8 years of age. However, they usually use their native language, but do you know that there are two official languages in Norway? Norwegian and Sami. Norwegian is by far the most spoken language, while the latter is used by the Sami people, an indigenous group of northern Europe.
They write one or two of the principal written forms: Bokmål and Nynorsk. The two are officially accorded equally in status. The language are not that very far apart, but do reflect large because of regional differences. Majority in Norway are using Bokmål, while Nynorsk is used by 10-15% of the total population - mostly in the west coast.
In this lesson, let us learn together simple sentences that can be used in conversations with Norwegians, and this will help you in your short stay or the beginning stay in Norway. For the benefit of other Filipinos who would like to travel and/or learn the language, I will try my best to translate other phrases in our own language.
